Games have always been about the players. But what does a new generation of players making the games entail? As fast paced as social media consumption is in an attention economy. Will the creative spark of videogames teal off alongside it?
Gen Z is no stranger to TikTok. And Gen Alpha is no stranger to Roblox. There's an invisible thread between TikTok and Roblox. And that is user generated content.
The days of Instagram's vintage appeal are long gone but it has proved tenacious, where TikTok has kept Instagram on its toes.
The games Gen Z may have grown up with, how would they feel lest the vintage feel of their games prove extinct in a competition of creative autonomy.
That vintage feel can be paralleled to the AAA benchmark in the industry.
With GTA VI on the horizon. There are headwinds of an in-house effort to support modding in hindsight to GTA V's long term success; players in GTA V create their own fun.
In my humble opinion. As fast as they come is as fast as they go. Games that have stood the test of time have built systems that cannot be recreated by exploitative means. Like ROBLOX or GTA V, these are social systems that are organic, despite one being intended initially by the developers and the other not so much. These systems can be as competitive as they are fun. Two things that here at PassionPlay that we are always keen to move the needle.
Simplifying esports and gaming marketing strategies.
